A railway passenger has been brutally beaten by 3 Train Ticket Examiners (TTEs) at Jaipur Junction in front of his family members, a video of which has been viral on social media leading to an inquiry within the railway administration.

The incident took place at 8:30 PM on 23rd June at Jaipur Junction. Sudhir Sharma, a passenger who boarded the Ashram Express from Meerut with his family which was destined for Ahmedabad. Despite purchasing a set of general class tickets he was found in sleeper class coaches.

3 TTEs Netram Meena, Rohitash Meena and Satyanarayan Meena took the family off the train and grabbed Sudhir to make him appear at main TTE office. Sudhir was humiliated in front of his family due to the offensive gesture of the TTEs.

In the office, the TTEs asked him his I-Card which Sudhir later asked back, only to be abused with slurs in front of his children and his wife which provoked Sudhir further. A clash erupted and Sudhir single-handedly countered the 3 TTEs who were attacking Sudhir simultaneously.

Despite taking on the 3 accused TTEs simultaneously single-handedly, Sudhir was injured, according to media reports- half dead, which frightened his wife and kids. While the onlookers remained mute spectators, a TTE named Pawan Sharma tried to pacify the belligerents.

The CPRO of North Western Railways Tarun Jain has ordered an inquiry into the matter and the Jaipur zonal committee has been tasked to conduct it. However, the inaction on the part of Jaipur zonal committee raised eyebrows as even after 4 days no proper action has been taken on the abused.

"Such incidents of assault on us have been ongoing since decades. A recent increment of such assaults has been seen in past few years. People watched as mute spectators. None tried to stop the TTEs from such an inhumane brutality except for Pawan Sharma, another TTE. People swarmed up to see the incident hearing a Sharma being beaten up. Sadly, none came to the rescue but came to enjoy the sight." said Mohit Tripathi who was an eye-witness to the incident.
